Some HP printers are only intended for use with print cartridges that contain new or repurposed HP chips or electronic circuitry. These printers use dynamic security measures to block cartridges with a non-HP chip or electronic circuitry. Regular firmware updates maintain the effectiveness of these measures and block cartridges that were previously working.
