Due to the constant increase in heating costs, many homeowners began to actively look for a more advanced and affordable solution that would help reduce heating costs. Is it effective to burn wood? Is the fireplace only an ornament or does it have additional value as a heat accumulator?
What do I need to know?
Oven
Stoves can be grouped according to how long they emit heat — 12, 24 or 48 hours. Volume and weight are the most important characteristics of the oven, as they determine its heat capacity. Good heat-accumulating properties mean that the oven is capable of evenly emitting heat for a long time. When using the stove regularly, all the materials from which it is made are affected by very high temperatures, so the material from which the stove is made must withstand daily thermal expansion.
The simplest solution is to have both a wood-burning stove and a kitchen stove in your household. Since both will serve as independent heating devices, they will work even in the absence of electricity.
Stove and stove can be both finished products made and tested by a manufacturer, and made by a stonemason. However, for greater reliability, we recommend purchasing a stove with a manufacturer's warranty that you can trust 100%. Manufacturers usually give a 5-year warranty on the stove and its materials, to be completely sure that the investment was not in vain.
Heavy stone ovens are capable of accumulating a lot of thermal energy, which they are capable of releasing 12-48 hours after the furnace is turned off.
Fireplaces
The choice of fireplaces is extremely diverse. Usually the choice is determined on the basis of two different functions of the fireplace. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the fire, then a light small fireplace with ventilation holes under the door, through which warm air enters the room, is suitable.
Large and massive fireplaces surpass light and small ones in their heat capacity and ability to provide heat for 12-48 hours, depending on the model.
In the case of fireplaces of the closed type, the upper chimney can be opened when the fire is already lit, and the hearth serves as a fireplace. If the fireplace is used to heat the room and preserve heat, the door must be closed immediately after the firewood is ignited, and the exhaust gases will pass through the side chimneys under the fireplace and into the chimney, so the stove serves as a stove.
Open fireplaces are without doors, and their main function is to create a good mood and a sense of comfort. The coefficient of thermal efficiency of open-type fireplaces ranges from 25 to 40%.
