The most important component of your chainsaw is its Chain.
Your chainsaw operates by propelling a chain around a metal guide bar; the chain's teeth make small cuts in succession and rapidly bite through wood.
If you find your existing Chain is dull and the blade is burning its way through wood, then the Chain will need replacing. A new Chain cuts well with very little force on the bar, while a dull chain tends to ride in the cut without deepening it.
To perform its job safely and reliably, the chainsaw chain must fit without being too slack and without too much tension. It’s time to replace the chain when the longest portion of the cutting tooth is less than 4mm or if you find cracks.
Chainsaw chains eventually wear out; they can get bent and pinched during use or worn down from constant sharpening.
